Edcation is a key component of our mission.
children logoThe Youth Ministries encompass two segments: acolyte program, and the Sunday School. This is an active and growing calling at Grace Church; children of all ages are welcome to participate in the youth activities. Sunday School: Our church school takes place during the 10:00 service. The age groupings are as follows: The 3-6 year olds, the 7-9 year olds, and the 10-12 year olds. We operate the "Catechesis of the Good Shepherd" curriculum which adheres to the Montessori Method and multiple-age classes. The theme of this curriculum is initiating children into their covenant relationship with God, helping children to receive and respond to God's unconditional, personal love for each of them: "I have called you by name, you are mine...Because you are precious in my sight, and honored, and I love you"Isaiah 43:1,4. Acolytes.

The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is an approach to the religious formation of children. It is rooted in the Bible, the liturgy of the church, and the educational principles of Maria Montessori. Children gather in an "atrium," a room prepared for them, which contains simple yet beautiful materials that they use. To learn more visit "Catechesis of the Good Shepherd" web site. For adults we have a regular series of teachings in Lent and Advent, as well as small groups that meet weekely and introductory classes in what it means to be a Christian.

From the sixth grade and up, our children are invited to serve as acolytes at the 10:00 service. This is a great opportunity for them to learn leadership skills, to participate and serve, and to learn more about our traditions, liturgy, the Word, and the Eucharist. This group is finding new ways to do service in the church and in the community, developing an awareness of the needs of others and the joy of helping.

Childcare is offered for babies and toddlers at the 10:00 service. We take this responsibility very seriously and endeavor to provide a clean, fun, safe, friendly environment for your children. We have at least two childcare givers with the children at all times. Most of our regular childcare givers are students at Pacific Union College, and all have been put through our Diocese's application process.
