Lector Ministry pic

The Lector Ministry has as it's mission to bring the word of God to the congregation by reading aloud the scriptures from the Bible. As prescribed by the Episcopal Edition of the Revised Common Lectionary, we read the assigned scriptures for that Sunday. "The Revised Common Lecionary was developed out of a concern for the unity of the Church and a desire for a common experience of Scripture. It is intended as a harmonization of the many different denominational approaches to the three-year lectionary." In other words, all Episcopal congregations are reading the same lessons each Sunday.

Isn't it an incredible thought that thousands of the faithful are all reading and hearing the same lessons on a given Sunday. And then expand that to the hundreds of thousands of Anglicans around the world who are hearing the same scriptures!!

The usual format is that the Lector reads scripture from the Old Testament, then reads the assigned Psalm - and invites the congregation to join in the reading. The second Lector then reads from the New Testament.

Hear what the Lord is saying to the people of Grace Church, and to the world. Amen
