Father Mac
Mac has been the shepherd here at Grace Church for 15 years. He and his wife, Sandy, along with their daughter, Biz, arrived in St Helena in 1993, and have rooted themselves in the community here. We’ll call Mac’s first 15 years a good start. The Church has experienced some real vitality and growth during his leadership, and the Gospel has been clearly proclaimed. One of Mac’s priorities has been the development of a leadership culture that sees the congregation as a “Priesthood of all Believers.” The premise that drives Grace Church is that everyone has been given unique spiritual gifts that, once brought together, make up the full Body of Christ. The incredible thing about Grace Church is the depth of talent in her pews. Artists, businessmen, wine makers, school teachers, empire builders and day laborers, you name it, the diversity of experience here is unparalleled. Mac sees himself as a permission giver, an encourager and a cheer leader to come alongside the good people of Grace Church and work hard to keep the beacon of the Gospel shining brightly from the corner of Oak and Spring Streets. One thing is obvious: he loves what he does!

Don Farrar
Treasurer

Joan and Don Farrar have visited the Napa Valley for twenty five or more years and owned property here for half that time. It was not until 2003, however, that they decided to move to the Valley and live here full time. One of their early tasks on arriving in St. Helena was to find a church home and they visited several before discovering Father Mac and Grace Church. The discovery was convincing, however, and they never looked back. Both feel that Grace Church and Cursillo have helped their spiritual growth enormously, while inviting them to continue growing and providing opportunities to serve. Don currently is head of the 10:00 Usher Corps, in his second year as a member of the Vestry and in his first month as Treasurer of the Church. Joan is Chairman of the Pastoral Care Committee, which provides meals, transportation and other services needed by parishioners who are having temporary difficulties. Both are members of small groups and consider Grace Church to be the center of their community activities and spiritual lives.

Elizabeth Hemphill
Vestry Member
Elizabeth Hemphill and her husband, Tripp, moved to Napa in 2006, and they started attending Grace Church before the moving van had arrived at their new house. Born and raised in Texas, she grew up in the Episcopal Church – surrounded by clergy in her own family. (In fact, her grandfather and Tripp’s grandfather were priests together in the Diocese of Texas – if they had only known…) She met Tripp at All Saints’ Beverly Hills, where they volunteered as youth ministers for many years together. As a member of the Vestry, Elizabeth enjoys working with her fellow spirit-led volunteers to tackle the challenges that face a growing parish. Her education and career span the fields of fine art, interior design, food, and wine. She is an avid animal and music aficionada, and she loves Grace Church.

Ken Moll
Vestry Member

Ken met his wife Nancy Carteron at a college reunion in Ohio in May 2004 and married her in August 2005 in Bourn Hall. Ken also truly found Christ earlier in 2004 and his love for both Nancy and Christ has only blossomed since moving to St. Helena and then Angwin in 2006/07. Already knowing the importance of small groups from his past New Jersey experience, he immediately joined one upon his arrival. Further recognizing the importance that Stephen Ministry had played in his life, he immediately joined the Pastoral Care Ministry where he could begin to learn how to help and give back to others in their time of need or crisis. Now a new member of the Grace Vestry, he is also a LEM, a Lector, a relatively new Cursista and recent team member, and a passionate Christian looking to learn more, love more, and help more as he seeks out his spiritual gifts.
